“Dreamed You Did Me Wrong” turns one absurdly realistic dream into a full-blown morning argument.

Driven by rolling boogie-woogie piano, swung 90s boom-bap drums and a playful male/female rap dynamic, the track follows a woman who wakes up convinced that her boyfriend cheated on her with her best friend — despite the fact that none of it actually happened.

The first verse belongs entirely to her as she reconstructs the imaginary betrayal in increasingly convincing detail. In the second verse, he tries to understand why he is suddenly being treated like a criminal when he spent the entire night asleep beside her.

The final verse turns into a back-and-forth exchange as the logic of the dream begins to collapse. Eventually she admits he did nothing wrong, dismisses the imaginary charges and generously “forgives” him anyway.
